Jill R. Schecter attended the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a major (benefiting the university infamous for the free speech movement) in Rhetoric. Armed with expertise in argument-for-argument’s sake and oral poetry recitation skills, she attended law school at the University of California, Los Angeles. By 1993, she had collected a law degree, a wonderful husband, and a nasty black cat.

After graduation, Ms. Schecter clerked for the Honorable Arthur L. Alarcon of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals until the fall of 1995, and also enjoyed a successful construction litigation practice with a boutique firm in Los Angeles. It was there she developed proficiency in walking through a construction zone in a hardhat and heels.

Ms. Schecter and her husband, a litigation partner at a Los Angeles-based megafirm, are raising three daughters, who already show remarkable strength in the art of persuasion.
